3 years ago I started composing after my wife passed away. Now, finally, these 7 compositions, which have been my companions on my journey through loss and healing, are available to listen to on my debut album.
Etienne de Villiers is a pianist from South Africa. His solo piano pieces follow the neo-classical style, searching for beauty and meaning through melodies and harmonies that are unfettered and uncomplicated.
In 2019, at the age of 39, he decided to learn the piano. A few years later, his wife of 17 years passed away. As a way to cope with the grief, he turned to the piano and started writing songs for the first time. These songs, although born from grief, are not songs of grief, but therapy through the expression of music.
Now, motivated by friends and family, he has gathered the courage to release these songs to the public.
His debut album “Inversion” was release in September 2024.
